When I visited New York it wasn’t my first time in the city that never sleeps, I had previously visited on a school trip when I was 15, but visiting at my own leisure I had no idea how to even beginning planning such an immense trip. Whilst I knew what kind of things I would like to go and see, I didn’t know which attractions were close to each other, where I would eat and in what order was best to visit. This is where the UGotIt came in. A travel assistant which plans your trip whilst matching to your personality and preference via an AI assistant, UGotIt was a massive help in planning our dream trip.
UGotIt takes the gruelling task out of creating itineraries for your trip in New York, using an AI assistant to create a trip which caters to your attraction preferences, food types, pace and methods of travel. Using the AI ‘Lucy’ we were able tell the app when we planned on visiting New York, so that we were able to arrange our trip on any significant dates which occurred during our visit such as New Year’s Eve and any bank holidays. This also helped us designate our days out to specific dates during our trip and around weekends.
Next Lucy asked me where we were staying during our trip, in which we were able to specifically pinpoint our hotel’s location so that the app was able to plan our transport during our stay. This also helped us allocate realistic time for travel in the morning from our hotel to the first destination, as well as sensible public transport options during the day.
Lucy then moved onto my interests in tourism, asking whether I would be interested in galleries, museums, architecture or shopping, or even all of the above. This way the app was able to narrow down my choices of attractions, narrowing them even further during the questioning in which I was able to indicate my museum and shopping preferences, as well as my preferred pace and method of travel between walking and transport. The whole questioning took around 5 minutes and afterwards the app was able to compile an entire itinerary for the 8 days we were in New York.
The interface of the app is so useful, showing us visually our day planned on the map we were able to identify in which districts we would be travelling. We were given an itinerary with times for us to leave the hotel, as well as the periods of time people typically spend in each attraction.
