I love city breaks, but I love cheap city breaks even more. Icelolly.com is a holiday comparison site for independent companies, so they basically compile lots of cheap breaks together that you can browse and compare. I spend a ridiculous amount of time (often when I should be revising or doing work), browsing the latest deals on last minute breaks. My number one present option for friends/boyfriends are trips, because not only do they get to visit and experience somewhere new, I get to come too! So its unsurprising that it's one of my budget travel tips that I wanted to share!
How To Use
Icelolly provide searches for sun, city, ski, cruise and UK breaks, as well as their own blog providing travel inspiration. After refining your search with departure dates and airports, the results are listed providing a price based on two people sharing a room and show prices per person. Supposedly; 'All prices advertised on icelolly.com are based on two adults sharing and incorporate the cost of both the accommodation and the flights. The price also includes all compulsory taxes and booking fees, as well as your cabin baggage.' (Quote from the website itself) Although icelolly lists all the trips for you, in order to book, you must ring the number of the company providing the package and quote the reference number on the website. Icelolly isn't a live website, so the price may differ slightly to that quoted online, or there may be extra booking fee's that hadn't been listed. This being said icelolly is without a doubt the cheapest website I've ever used for booking trips abroad.
Any Destination Search
Although the website allows you to chose your destination, date of departure, departure airports, duration and board basis, the best way to find your next adventure, is the 'Any Destination' search. This allows you to choose various departure airports, your preferred dates, and the search results display the trips to various countries in order of ascending price.
In the example shown below, I chose North West airports and the 1st of October, leaving the duration and board basis blank, the following results were compiled: (yes there are actual breaks for £50) Trustworthy?
I'll admit I was a little hesitant about booking a holiday over the phone, and was particularly nervous when giving my card details. The prices are so unbelievably low its hard to believe that it's not either a) a scam or b)including lots of hidden charges. However, I've booked deals with them before and had absolutely no issues. True, there are often a few extra booking charges but this is often no more than around £20, not only that you booking is ATOL protected.
