As the UK plunges towards an uncertain brexit, as does the value of the pound, and with this comes an abysmal exchange rate for all Brit’s travelling abroad. It’s true that now when we think about getting money exchanged, often the pound is £1:€1 equal to a Euro, and even the thought of finding the best place to exchange money is exhausting. If you’re not only visiting Europe, it can be painful to exchange so much money, only to bring it back home and lose out on the return rate. Step forward the Revolut card...
Revolut is a free mobile-based, digital banking alternative pre-paid debit card. With an easy to use interface, the Revolut app allows you to load money wirelessly onto your card, save money into ‘vaults’, track currency rates, convert your balance and even dabble in cryptocurrency.
So why is this app so perfect for travellers? Accessibility You can use this card EVERYWHERE. With a contactless function you can easily tap to purchase in stores, restaurants and tourist sights. If you don’t feel comfortable with this, the card also has a chip and pin function and even better - if you can’t remember your pin you can quickly check it via the app! You can use your card for online purchases, and better yet if you’re visiting a country which prefers to deal in cash, you can also use your Revolut card to withdraw in your destination’s currency without pesky bank fees.

Exchange Rates
The app features hundreds of currencies to choose from, with the interface allowing easy exchange from your own balance. Not only that, Revolut offers the BEST exchange rates, as they provide interbank rates without any markup. You can also watch real time fluctuations in exchange rate values via the app, providing you with the highest and lowest that currency has been worth in the last day, month, 3 months and year! Saving for Travel
I also find that the Revolut app has massively aided in saving for my travels. I regularly use my card in the UK, loading my weekly allowance into the account via the app. This stops me overspending on my current account (often a temptation) and also allows me to save my spare ‘change’ into a vault for trips. For instance, if I spend £2.40 on a coffee using my card, I will be charged £3 and the extra £0.60 will enter a vault. If you’re more determined to save, you can double your ‘change’ to move to your account. Whilst it may not seem alot, overtime this can really help with your spends or even if you want to treat yourself and like many other bank accounts you can also allocate a value which will be moved to this vault every month. If you are interested in trying out Revolut, you can download the App and use the card online, alternatively you can order a physical card and until the 2nd of December, they are offering free postage on their cards. Try Revolut HERE Let me know if you use any alternative cards when travelling - I've tried a Monzo before but much prefer Revolut!
